Vintage Shoe Box

Ok…enough playing around…it’s time to get serious here!  I’ve been playing around here and there as to what I’ve really wanted this personal blog to be and now I know how I am going to use it.  Time to really start venturing into this medium with a bit more enthusiasm and spunk…you good with that?   So far this blog has been like a vintage shoe box you keep all your keepsakes and memories in.  You stumble across it while cleaning one day…strap on your old Dr. Martins…and head down memory lane for a few.   So now starts the next chapter to be added to this shoe box…

All New!!!

So I’ve been working on the side for a while designing and rebranding myself in the photo industry. This is a lot harder then it sounded to me at first…I figured hmmm…I’ll just create a simple design with the colors I love the most. Then after a while of looking at it…I really didn’t like it all that much and it really didn’t represent ME! So now I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with a design that is ME! I think I am really close and once I have it…I’ll release it out into the world (man that was a cheesy way of saying that). So I’ll leave you with this hooky image I created…but it does represent my quirky humorous side…so I am on the right track. Stay tuned…

New Art

I just have to post this as my wife just sent me a text that she got the position she was inverviewed for a few weeks ago. She applied for an art position at the high school level and it’s primarily based around clay and ceramics which is what she loves the most. So happy for her as she really really wanted this position. Congrats honey…love you!

Vintro Thursday 1 – Upon Love

I’ve decided to take it upon myself to get back into another love of mine and that is a combination of manipulating photos and Web Design. I’ve always loved the way old photos looked and it just doesn’t stop there. Growing up where I did in a very small town during the 70′s really makes a big impact on what I find visually appealing when looking back through a lot of our old family photos and cloths I wore. On top of that my mother is an artist and creates amazing vintage looking folk art that is spot on authentic. So I was always surrounded by all this growing up and….it grew on me and still does today. I always look forward to going home to visit as it constantly inspires me every time. Driving down the dirt back roads filled with old Mail Pouch barns and beautiful lakes being kissed by weeping willow trees and old rickety bridges providing shade and a home to little rabbits while also being surround by beautiful tree covered mountains. Ok…ok…I started to get a little overboard there, but it really is beautiful. Now it’s not only that…those that know me know I am a big family guy and love love love spending time with my family. So from now on I am going to do what I like to call “Vintro Thursdays” and post up a new creation every week. After every year I’m planning on taking those photos and turning them into a photo book…and will probably do a contest and giveaway the first copy to one lucky reader!

So I’ll stop rambling now and get to this weeks image I call “Upon Love”

Birds of a Feather!

Here are a few shots just taken in my backyard as I was letting my dogs outside. I noticed this one bird that seems to have a broken wing…and I named him fieval. I took a few pictures of him and then helped him get back over the fence with the rest of the family! I love animals…what can I say…breaks my heart to see them suffer.:(

The Storm before the Calm!

This past Monday we had a bit of a storm and I’ve always really wanted to capture a sweet sweet shot of lightning. Just was never in the right place at the right time..and with a camera. So I had the camera and was in my living room and couldn’t sleep so I tried to capture some of the lighting from the storm…still nothing amazing at all, but wanted to share them with you all. Thought they really worked well as B&Ws.
